At first glance, a tensor ring looks surprisingly simple: a continuous circle of twisted copper wire.
But according to the pioneering work of Slim Spurling, its significance lies not simply in the copper itself, but in the precise measurements, geometry, and energetic field associated with the ring.
These deceptively simple tools became the foundation of an entire family of energetic devices, with applications explored in personal wellness, water, agriculture, environmental harmonization, and much more.
To understand tensor technology, we begin with the ring.
A traditional tensor ring begins with a precisely measured length of high-purity copper wire.
The wire is folded, twisted in a specific direction, formed into a circle, and joined to create a continuous loop.
Three elements are especially important:
Tensor rings are constructed using specific lengths known as cubits.
Different cubit measurements are associated with different energetic qualities and applications.
The Sacred Cubit, Lost Cubit, and Empowerment Cubit are among the measurements we work with at Aetheric Rings.
The direction and construction of the twisted copper are intentional. Slim Spurling's early experiments explored the relationship between wire orientation, polarity, and the energetic characteristics of the completed ring.
His resulting design was described as producing a positive energetic polarity on both faces of the ring.
Joining the wire into an unbroken circle completes the geometry.
In Slim's model, this creates the conditions for a tensor field to form within the open space of the ring.
The result is more than a decorative copper circle. It is a carefully constructed energetic tool.
According to Slim Spurling, the active field is associated with the open space inside the ring, not just the copper itself.
He described the field as extending outward from both faces of the ring in a coherent, cylindrical beam.
Imagine holding a ring upright and shining a perfectly round flashlight beam straight through its center, extending in both directions.
That's a useful way to picture the field Slim described.
The beam follows the shape and approximate dimensions of the ring's opening. A circular ring is described as producing a circular field; changing the ring's shape changes the geometry of the projected field.
In Slim's early investigations, he and his collaborators estimated that this field could extend approximately ten miles in either direction.
That extraordinary distance comes from their field observations and energetic investigations, rather than a universally established instrument measurement.
It also helps explain why tensor tools are explored for applications far beyond the immediate space occupied by the copper itself.
Slim Spurling believed that the precisely constructed copper loop created a subtle energetic field capable of interacting with its surroundings.
He and his collaborators investigated this through dowsing, intuitive perception, practical experiments, field observations, and various technical investigations.
They described the ring as producing a coherent, positive-polarity field that could influence energetic conditions without requiring batteries, electrical wiring, or an external power supply.
In this framework, the ring isn't thought of as generating electricity in the ordinary sense. Instead, its geometry and measurements are believed to organize or interact with subtle energies already present in the environment.
The precise physical mechanism remains an open question.
For us, that's part of what makes tensor technology so compelling. There is a great deal to explore, observe, compare, and learn.
Yes, the measurement used to construct the tools matters.
A quarter-cubit ring, a half-cubit ring, and a full-cubit ring have different physical dimensions. Their field openings are correspondingly different in size.
The cubit measurement also matters. Two rings of similar physical size, made using different cubit systems, may be associated with different energetic characteristics.
The gauge of the copper can be another consideration. Slim's research and practitioner reports described differences in perceived field strength and density between lighter and heavier wire constructions.
This is why tensor rings aren't simply made by twisting an arbitrary length of copper into a circle.
The measurements are intentional. The construction matters.
One of the remarkable things about tensor rings is their versatility.
People explore them in a wide variety of ways, including:
Personal energetic wellness: Wearing or positioning rings around the body during meditation, relaxation, Reiki, and other energy practices.
Water: Placing rings around or near water containers as part of structured-water and energetic experimentation.
Homes and workspaces: Exploring the energetic character of rooms, buildings, and living environments.
Gardens and agriculture: Experimenting with rings around plants, growing areas, irrigation systems, and soil.
Dowsing and energy work: Using rings alongside other energetic tools to investigate and work with subtle environmental influences.
Larger field devices: Combining multiple rings and geometries to create Harmonizers, Feedback Loops, and other specialized tools.
Some applications have decades of practitioner reports behind them. Others are still being explored through individual experiences and collaborative investigations.
Traditional tensor rings are passive tools. They don't require batteries, charging cables, or an electrical outlet.
In Slim's approach, their energetic characteristics arise from their construction and geometry.
Many practitioners also work with intention, placement, and other energetic practices when using them.
At Aetheric Rings, we encourage people to experiment thoughtfully, observe their own experiences, and discover which approaches resonate with them.
Copper is highly conductive, workable, durable, and well suited to the precise twisting and shaping required for tensor construction.
It was central to Slim Spurling's original ring designs and remains our preferred material.
Our rings are handcrafted from 99.9% pure copper, left unplated and uncoated.
Over time, copper naturally develops a patina. In our experience, that surface change doesn't alter the energetic character of the tool.
If you prefer the bright appearance of polished copper, our Care & Maintenance guide explains how to clean it.
One Principle. Three Distinct Energetic Qualities.
A cubit is an ancient unit of measurement, historically based on the length of the human forearm, from the elbow to the fingertips.
Different civilizations used different cubit lengths.
Slim Spurling's work explored particular measurements that he believed corresponded with natural harmonic relationships, including aspects of geometry, light, matter, and the energetic structure of our environment.
In tensor technology, these lengths are used to determine how much copper is needed to construct a particular ring.
A full cubit ring uses the complete measurement. A half cubit ring uses half that length. A quarter cubit ring uses one quarter.
The physical diameter changes accordingly, but the underlying cubit harmonic remains connected to the original measurement.
The same principle applies when working with multiples of a cubit.
By using precise fractions and multiples, we explore the harmonic relationships associated with each measurement while creating tools of different sizes and configurations.
The measurements are never arbitrary.
At Aetheric Rings, every tensor tool we create is constructed using a specific cubit measurement, a fraction of one, a multiple of one, or an intentional combination of cubit measurements.
We don't simply bend random lengths of copper into shapes and call them tensor tools.
The geometry matters. The measurement matters. And the harmonic relationship is fundamental to the design.
The Physical Body. Grounding. Stability.
Traditional full cubit measurement: Approximately 20.6 inches.
Associated harmonic frequency: 144 MHz.
The Sacred Cubit was the original measurement used in Slim Spurling's tensor ring discoveries.
Slim connected this measurement to ancient Egyptian geometry, particularly the Great Pyramid of Giza.
He also described its 144 MHz resonance as having a harmonic relationship to the speed of light, a connection that became an important part of his exploration of natural frequencies.
In his work, the Sacred Cubit was most closely associated with physical matter and the tangible aspects of our world.
Practitioners traditionally explore Sacred Cubit tools for:
Physical grounding and energetic balance
Supporting personal wellness practices
Working with the body's physical energy
Water and environmental experimentation
Plants, gardens, and agricultural applications
Establishing a foundation for other tensor configurations
The Sacred Cubit is often considered a practical starting point because of its association with the physical world.
Think of the Sacred Cubit as the physical foundation, supporting our connection to the material world.
The Emotional Body. Harmony. Subtle Energy.
Traditional full cubit measurement: Approximately 23.49 inches.
Associated harmonic frequency: 177 MHz.
The Lost Cubit entered Slim's work after the original Sacred Cubit discoveries.
It is sometimes called the Forbidden Cubit, reflecting the stories and mystery surrounding this particular measurement.
Slim described the Lost Cubit as having a different energetic relationship from the Sacred Cubit.
Where the Sacred Cubit was associated more strongly with physical matter, the Lost Cubit was associated with the atmosphere, the human aura, and the emotional and subtle energetic aspects of life.
Practitioners explore Lost Cubit tools for:
Emotional balance and energetic harmony
Meditation and inner awareness
Working with the aura and subtle energy fields
Reiki and other energetic practices
Personal and environmental harmonization
Exploring intention and energetic interactions
Some energy workers describe the Lost Cubit as particularly interesting when working with emotional patterns, energetic blockages, or the atmosphere surrounding a person or place.
Think of the Lost Cubit as supporting the emotional and subtle energetic aspects of our being.
The Mind. The Spirit. Connection to the Divine.
Associated harmonic frequency: 188 MHz.
The Empowerment Cubit is also known as the New Cubit.
Its history is especially interesting.
The measurement was shared with Slim Spurling in 2006, but it was not introduced commercially during his lifetime.
In 2011, Katharina Spurling-Kaffl received the measurement from the individual who had originally shared it with Slim. After prototypes were created and evaluated, she introduced it as the Empowerment Ring.
Katharina considered it the third member of a complementary family of cubit measurements.
The Empowerment Cubit is traditionally associated with mental activity, clarity, comprehension, and the conscious direction of intention.
At Aetheric Rings, we also recognize a deeply spiritual aspect to this measurement.
We associate it with higher awareness, connection to the divine, communication with one's higher self, and the exploration of consciousness beyond ordinary thought.
Practitioners explore Empowerment Cubit tools for:
Mental clarity and focus
Spiritual awareness and connection
Meditation, prayer, and intentional practices
Exploring one's higher self and intuition
Personal growth and expanded consciousness
Combining with Sacred and Lost Cubit tools
Exploring the relationship between thoughts, emotions, spirit, and energetic experiences
Some users report a calming of mental activity, while others describe increased clarity, heightened awareness, or a deeper connection to their spiritual practices.
Think of the Empowerment Cubit as an invitation to explore consciousness, spiritual connection, and the power of intention.
In Slim Spurling's framework, the precise length of a cubit is associated with a particular harmonic resonance.
When we create a ring using a fraction or multiple of that measurement, we are working within the same harmonic family.
For example, a half Sacred Cubit ring is physically smaller than a full Sacred Cubit ring, but its measurement retains a mathematical relationship to the original Sacred Cubit.
Likewise, larger rings made from multiples of the same cubit maintain that proportional relationship.
This is why precise measurement is so important in our workshop.
We aren't simply creating different sizes for convenience. We're working with intentional mathematical relationships that form the foundation of tensor construction.
The associated frequencies of 144 MHz, 177 MHz, and 188 MHz come from the tensor tradition.
The cubit determines the measurement family. The fraction or multiple determines the amount of that measurement used in the construction.
Different sizes allow for different applications.
Smaller rings are convenient for jewelry, personal use, carrying in a pocket, and positioning around smaller objects.
Medium rings offer versatility for personal energetic practices, water containers, and a wide range of experiments.
Larger rings are useful when working with larger objects, areas, or specialized energetic configurations.
Slim also explored how wire gauge and the physical dimensions of rings might influence their energetic characteristics.
At Aetheric Rings, we offer several sizes because we believe there is value in having tools suited to different purposes.
The largest ring is not automatically the best choice. It depends on what you want to explore.
One of our favorite aspects of tensor technology is what happens when different cubits are used together.
Each measurement has its own energetic qualities, but we find that they complement one another beautifully.
The Sacred Cubit contributes its physical and grounding associations.
The Lost Cubit brings its relationship to the emotional and subtle energetic aspects of our being.
The Empowerment Cubit contributes its connection to mental clarity, spiritual awareness, and conscious intention.
Together, we experience them as something greater than three individual tools.
They balance and complement one another, creating a sense of wholeness that we don't experience in quite the same way when using each one separately.
This is one reason we enjoy creating sets and configurations that incorporate multiple cubit measurements.
The possibilities become especially interesting when exploring how different fields interact and support one another.
Although each cubit has traditional associations, we don't believe those descriptions should limit how people use them.
All three are intentional tools.
You can work with a Sacred Cubit ring for meditation, a Lost Cubit ring for physical energetic practices, or an Empowerment Cubit ring for environmental harmonization.
The traditional descriptions provide guidance, not restrictions.
We encourage you to bring your own intentions, curiosity, and awareness into your experiences.
Explore different placements, combinations, and applications.
Pay attention to what you notice.
You may discover that a particular tool feels especially suited to one purpose, or that an unexpected combination becomes your favorite.
There is no single correct answer.
Interested in physical grounding, water, or environmental applications?
The Sacred Cubit may be a natural place to begin.

You may enjoy exploring the Lost Cubit.
Curious about mental clarity, spiritual awareness, or connecting with your higher self?
The Empowerment Cubit may be especially interesting to you.
Interested in a more complete energetic experience?
Consider exploring all three together.
Their complementary qualities are one of the reasons we love working with cubit sets.
You may also find yourself drawn to a particular measurement without knowing exactly why.
We encourage curiosity, personal observation, and experimentation rather than assuming everyone will respond in the same way.
Understanding the cubits opens the door to a much larger world of possibilities.
Every tensor tool we create begins with these principles of intentional measurement, harmonic relationships, and geometry.
Whether we're making a simple ring, a piece of jewelry, a Feedback Loop, a Heartmonizer, or an entirely new design, the cubit measurements remain fundamental to our work.
Slim Spurling helped establish the foundation. Katharina continued expanding the technology. Today, makers, practitioners, and curious explorers around the world continue investigating what these measurements might make possible.
At Aetheric Rings, we're delighted to be part of that ongoing adventure.
Three remarkable measurements. Countless combinations. A world of possibilities still waiting to be explored.
